Planning Department Lecture Series Honored
The City of Raleigh Planning Department received an “honorable mention” for the Designing a 21st Century City Lecture Series during the 2007 Marvin Collins Planning Awards Ceremony held by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association (NCAPA).
The ceremony, held on Sept. 28 in Chapel Hill, recognizes the highest standards of achievement in the planning profession in North Carolina. The NCAPA recognized the project in the “2007 Special Theme, Innovations in Planning Services, Education and Public Involvement” category.
The Designing a 21st Century City lecture series features nationally-recognized experts in planning-related topics. The series raises public awareness on specific issues and policy-level discussions. Lecture topics have included the real costs of parking, transit-oriented development and capitalizing regional economic development. The final lecture of the year will be held on Nov. 6 and will be titled, “A Model For Urban Form: Traditional Codes versus Form-Based Codes.”
