Walnut Creek Wetlands Center Breaks Ground
The City of Raleigh's Parks and Recreation Department held an official ground breaking for the Walnut Creek Wetlands Center on Wednesday, July 16, at 10 a.m. The ceremony was held at the future site of the Center at the corner of Peterson Street and State Street. This site contains extensive wetlands that are located near the downtown urban center and will offer an opportunity for the public to easily explore and learn about the value and significance of wetlands for water quality and wildlife habitat. The center will include exhibit space, classrooms, office space, and a large deck and is expected to open in Spring 2009.
