Commission Given Additional Time To Review Front-Yard Parking Proposal

The Raleigh Planning Commission has been granted an additional 90 days to continue its review of a proposal regulating front-yard parking at single-family detached houses. The City Council voted unanimously today in favor of the time extension.

The proposal would amend the City’s regulations on front-yard parking at single-family detached houses. Specifically, it further limits the area that may be used for driveways and parking areas, requires the driveway and parking areas to be paved or contain crushed gravel with defined borders, and requires vegetative screening in certain situations. The new regulations would apply to new driveways and front-yard parking areas at single-family detached housing.

Following its review, the Planning Commission will make a recommendation to the City Council on the front-yard parking proposal.
