Council Amends Blount Street Parking Deck Development Agreement
The Raleigh City Council voted unanimously at its meeting on Oct. 21 to amend the Blount Street Parking Deck development agreement to allow for the sale of two retail spaces in the deck. The retail spaces could be used for any legal purpose permitted by zoning regulations and restrictive covenants, under the adopted amendment.
In 2006, the City Council approved an agreement with Highwoods Properties and Progress Energy for development of the parking deck at 314 Blount St. between Martin and Davie streets. The parking deck opened in August with 1,232 spaces. It supports the nearby 33-story RBC Plaza mixed-use tower that opened recently and current and future development in the downtown area. RBC Plaza includes the new corporate headquarters for RBC Centura bank.
