Public Hearing On Proposed Change In Makeup Of Planning Commission
A public hearing will be held on a proposal that would increase the number of members on the Raleigh Planning Commission from 11 to 13. The Raleigh City Council and the City Planning Commission will hold a special joint public hearing on the proposed change on Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. in the council chamber of the Avery C. Upchurch Government Complex, 222 W. Hargett St.
Under the proposed ordinance, the City Council would appoint 10 City residents to the Planning Commission and the Board of Wake County Commissioners would appoint three residents from Raleigh’s Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) to the commission. Currently, the City Council appoints eight City residents and the Wake County Commission appoints three ETJ residents to the City’s Planning Commission. The public hearing will provide citizens with an opportunity to comment on the proposed change.
