Second Annual Walking Program August 27 at Chavis Community Center
City of Raleigh is teaming up with AARP and Rex to kick-off their Second Annual
10-Week Walking Program on August 27, 2008. Walkers can participate anytime between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at Chavis Community Center. Chavis Community Center is located at 505 MLK Jr. Boulevard, Raleigh, NC 27607.
Rex will be onsite conducting health screenings.
The 10-Week Walking Program is aimed at improving the health of older
Americans by engaging them in a regular exercise routine. Rex Health Care will
be offering weekly educational seminars throughout Raleigh.
This event is free but preregistration is required. Registration can be done at any Raleigh Parks and Recreation Community Center, through RecLink, or by calling Carmen Rayfield at 919-807-8525.
We are looking for volunteer Walk Leaders, 18 years of age or better, to encourage and motivate group members. This is a great opportunity to get involved and meet new people while engaging in healthy activities. Volunteers are asked to sign up before August 1 so you can be included in a small training session for this program.
