Volunteers Needed For 2009 Special Olympics Wake County Soccer Skills Competition
More than 50 volunteers are needed for the 2009 Special Olympics Wake County Soccer Skills Competitions, being held in Raleigh October 27 at Millbrook Exchange Park and November 4 at Method Community Center. The times for both events are 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The competitions will host more than 300 athletes from 185 WCPSS classrooms throughout Wake County.
Volunteers are needed to fill positions such as announcer, field of play assistant, heat preparer, awards and concessions. All volunteers will receive a free T-shirt and position-specific training. Special Olympics Wake County offers year-round sports training and competition for more than 38,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. These athletes inspire greatness through their success and provide motivation to the thousands of coaches, sports officials, local program committee members and event organizers involved in Special Olympics countywide. SOWC offers Olympic-type competition in 20 sports on local and state levels.
