Environmental Awards Nominations Now Being Accepted




Nominations for the 2010 City of Raleigh Environmental Awards are now being accepted. The deadline for applications is January 15, 2010. The program recognizes individuals or organizations that demonstrate a commitment to protecting or improving the environment. The award winners will be chosen based upon quantifiable results that positively affect the environment.

The award categories include:

  • Environmental Awareness (leadership or teaching)  for those who show leadership or teach others about the environment;
  • Legacy Award for lifelong contribution to the environment by an individual or an organization;
  • Natural Resource Conservation for water, wastewater, reuse water, residuals and biosolids, air quality, or stormwater;
  • Green Design (built environment) for stormwater, recycling, sedimentation and erosion controls, construction debris reuse, energy innovation, ecological footprint;
  • Regional Award for air quality, the Neuse River basin or other regional issues;
  • Pioneering Efforts in any environmental area;
  • Youth Award for primary or secondary school youth;
  • Urban Stewardship Award for volunteers or organizations engaged in community building or conservation, and,
  • Market Transformation Award for manufacturers, retailers, or marketers that promote products, services and choices that lessen the impact on the environment and health.
