The following street closings will affect traffic patterns downtown over the next several weeks. This listing will be continuously updated so bookmark this page or check back often.
JULY
On July 7, 14, 21, and 28, the 400 block of Fayetteville Street will be closed from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. from Davie Street to the Cabarrus Street extension for the City Plaza Farmer’s Market.
On July 10, the 2700 block of Community Drive will be closed from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Also, the 2200 block of Spacious Skies Street will be closed from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and the 400 block of Polk Street will be closed from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m.
On July 19, the 1400 block of Nottingham Road will be closed from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m.
On July 20, the 100 block of Fayetteville Street will be closed from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. for a parade.
On July 23-25, traffic will be affected for a street festival. The 400 block of Fayetteville Street will be closed from 6 p.m. on July 23 until 6 a.m. on July 25.
On July 24, traffic will be impacted for a parade. The group will assemble on the 100 block of Hillsborough Street at 10 a.m. At noon, the parade will enter Salisbury Street and proceed south, turn left onto Morgan Street, right onto Fayetteville Street and proceed to Davie Street. The parade is expected to end at 2 p.m.
On July 25, the 300 block of Pace Street will be closed from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m.
On July 29, the 400 block of Fayetteville Street will be closed from 10 a.m. until 1 a.m.
On July 30 through August 1, the 100 through 500 blocks of Fayetteville Street and the 00 blocks of Hargett, Davie and Martin streets will be closed from 6 p.m. on July 30 until 7 a.m. on August 1.
AUGUST
On August 4, 11, 18, 25 and Sept. 1, the 400 block of Fayetteville Street will be closed from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. from Davie Street to the Cabarrus Street extension for the City Plaza Farmer’s Market.
On August 14, traffic will be impacted from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. for a parade. The 00 through 300 blocks of S. Salisbury Street, the 100 blocks of Hillsborough and W. Morgan streets, and the 00 and 100 blocks of W. Martin and W. Hargett streets will be closed. Also, Cabarrus Street from McDowell Street to Salisbury Street will be closed from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
On August 20 through August 22, the 100 through 500 blocks of Fayetteville Street and the 00 blocks of Hargett, Davie and Martin streets will be closed from 6 a.m. on August 20 until 7 a.m. on August 22.
On August 21, the 2400 block of Goodrich Drive will be closed from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m.
On August 22, a bike race will be held in the Lead Mine Road area between 7:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Riders will only use one lane of both Lead Mine and Baileywick roads.
On August 29, traffic will be affected from 7:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. for a bike race. Riders will utilize one lane as they travel Lead Mine Road, turn right onto Baileywick Road, and enter the YMCA parking lot.
On September 1, traffic will be affected from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. for a road race in the Six Forks Road area. The runners will assemble at 4815 Six Forks Road and enter onto Terry Street. They will turn right onto Northbrook Drive, left onto Gates Street, right onto Sampson Drive, right onto Pamlico Drive, left onto Davidson Street, right onto Yadkin Drive, left onto Rampart Street, right onto Gunnison Place, right onto Coronado Drive, right onto Manchester Drive, left onto Wimbleton Drive, right onto Shellry Road, left onto Langley Circle, left onto Cranbook Road, right onto Six Forks Road and return to the starting line.
