Youth Programs offered school-based programs and summer camp opportunities to children on traditional- and year-round calendars in grades K-8.

Registration Information - School Based Programs

When do I begin registering for the programs?

Registration forms will be accepted beginning on March 13. Registration will occur online via the RecLink registration system.

Are there any changes I need be aware of when registering for the 2017-2018 School year?

We are adding two new program options for the the 2017-2018 School Year, starting in July.

  • Sycamore Creek Before School - We will now offer the Before and After School program for Sycamore Creek elementary.
  • Lake Lynn Track 2 - Families on Track 2 will now have Lake Lynn as a option, along with Brier Creek and Marsh Creek.

How do I register for programs?

Review the Program Selection Guide in the 2017-2018 School Based Programs Brochure, available February 1.

Online registration will begin March 13 and end on June 30. Online registration will be available online via RecLink. Your family login and pin will be needed to access your online account.

***If you are existing, you already have a LOGIN ID/PIN***

To register online, you must set up a family account in advance:

  1. Go to reclink.raleighnc.gov
  2. Click “Login” in the upper right corner.(Note: If you don’t know your login information and are an existing client, click “Forgot Login Id and/or PIN”).
  3. Click “Create a New Account” if you are a new customer. Your login and pin will be emailed to you.
  4. Browse and select your school based programs.
  5. Complete all registration information.
  6. Submit the payment information for your initial deposit (AMEX, MasterCard, or VISA). Note that this payment information will not remain on file.
  7. Review your receipt for accuracy

Walk-in registration will begin July 1. Program availability may be limited. Registration forms will be available online, at the Recreation Business Office or at any community center beginning July 1.

All walk-in registration will be processed at the Recreation Business Office located at 2401 Wade Ave, Raleigh, NC 27607. Note: Families may choose a payment plan option but the initial deposit is due at the time of registration.

Before School X-Press

The Before School Program is a great way for any child to start their day. The morning is structured to allow for various arrival times enabling staff to welcome each child as they arrive. Some of the activities the kids participate in during the early hours are: board games, computer games, crafts, playground time, gym games and more.

  • Non-city resident: $920 per child

After School X-Press

The After School X-Press Program strives to provide a high quality program. Our goal is to include a variety of curriculum-based programs such as arts and crafts, computer education, sports and fitness, homework assistance, nature, music, cooking and nutrition programs.

  • City resident: $1460 per child
  • Non-city resident: $1640 per child

Weather Policy

The program does not cover early dismissal due to inclement weather or other unexpected early releases or Saturday school makeups.

The After School Program is not offered when Wake County Schools are closed due to inclement weather.

Track Out X-Press

The Track Out X-Press Program strives to make available high quality activities at a reasonable cost. This program provides a stimulating and exciting atmosphere through highly organized activities ranging from arts and crafts, sports/games, field trips, educational computer activities, nature programs and much more. The program is staffed with caring and experienced counselors.

Additional specialty programs will be offered throughout the year such as swim lessons, sports clinics, special art classes, adventure programs, lake programs, and much more.

  • Designed for students participating in year round and modified school calendars and home school students

Program Hours

  • The track-out program opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 6:30 p.m.

All 4 breaks

  • City resident - $1620 | Non-City resident - $1800

Weekly

  • City resident - $160/wk | Non-city resident - $175/wk

A $25 non-refundable registration fee per child is due at time of registration. Registrations under $400 must be paid in full at time of registration.

Summer Camps - Summer X-Press

The Summer X-Press Program provides a high quality summer camp experience at a reasonable cost.

This program incorporates a stimulating and exciting atmosphere through organized activities including: arts and crafts, recreational sports and games, field trips, specialty programs and much more.

The program is staffed with caring and experienced counselors that attend more than 20 hours of staff training focused on working with school aged participants.

Participants should be prepared to have tons of FUN with plenty of laughs, smiles, and excitement.

Program Details

  • Program is offered for participants between the ages of six and 11 as of August 31 of current year.
  • Participants should bring a lunch and two snacks daily.
  • Participants will be involved in indoor and outdoor activities throughout the camp day.
  • Campers will receive a program t-shirt that should be worn on all non-pool field trips.

  • Program hours are from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Early drop off is available at 7:30 a.m. and all campers must be picked up by 6 p.m.

Summer Specialty Camps

Summer Explorers Camp Age: 6 - 12 years

Explore an endless variety of activities at Summer Explorers’ Camp! Participants will enjoy recreational activities, including unique arts and crafts, cooking projects, sports, games and more! In addition, computer time will be available for computer activities, games and more! Don’t miss the special events and exciting field trips, including swimming twice per week and other fun outings. This program is staffed with caring and experienced counselors who attend more than 20 hours of staff training focused on working with school-aged participants. Program hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Early drop-off is available at 7 a.m., and all campers must be picked up by 6 p.m. Activities will take place indoors and outdoors. Participants should bring a lunch and two snacks daily.

Day Trippin'

Age: 6 to 12 years. Are you ready for an exciting journey? Day Trippin’ camp is no typical summer camp! Campers go on two field trips each day. Field trips may include visits to Raleigh Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources facilities for swimming, boating, and experiencing art and cultural resources; other recreational facilities for jumping in an indoor inflatable jump house, roller-skating, ice skating, bowling, movies, and gymnastics; Adventure Landing; Museum of Natural Sciences; and out-of-town locations. When not on field trips, campers enjoy arts and crafts, recreational games, sports and other traditional day camp activities. Field trips will occur between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Early drop-off is available starting at 7 a.m., and campers must be picked up by 6 p.m. Campers should bring a lunch and two snacks each day.

Camp Is Held at Ravenscroft School and Daniels Middle

DIGI-Camps

Partnering with Discovery Tech in Morrisville, Digital Camps are offered for participants between the ages of 7 and 14. Topics include: video editing and movie making, video game design, robotics, and more. See the camp brochure for specific topics, dates, and times.
