Public Hearing for Rezoning, Text Change and Comprehensive Plan Amendments

The Raleigh City Council and Planning Commission conduct joint public hearings for all rezonings, text changes and comprehensive plan amendments. These joint public hearings are conducted four times a year in the months of January, April, July and October. The joint public hearings occur on the third Tuesday of these months at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council chambers. The City Council does not make any decisions at the joint public hearing. The hearing is an opportunity to speak to the elected and appointed officials regarding a specific request. Proponents and opponents are provided eight minutes to comment, per request. Speakers are not required to sign in before providing comments, but will be asked to provide a name and address.
