Raleigh Medal of Arts
The Raleigh Medal of Arts is awarded for extraordinary achievement in the practice or support of local arts. Based on the National Medal of Arts program, the Raleigh award was inaugurated in 1984 by the Raleigh Arts Commission.

Gifts of Gold Student Showcase
More than 200 Wake County students, from kindergarteners to high school seniors, are represented in the Annual Gifts of Gold arts celebration each Spring at the North Carolina Museum of Art.
Gifts of Gold is the visual arts component of the Pieces of Gold performing arts extravaganza, and is a collaboration between Raleigh Arts, Wake County Public School System, and the WakeEd Partnership.
Raleigh Poet Laureate
In 2026, the City of Raleigh Arts Commission established the Raleigh Poet Laureate program in partnership with the Raleigh Arts. This initiative aims to elevate poetry as a vital part of civic life and creatively expand engagement with youth and neighborhoods. The program will highlight Raleigh’s contributions to the literary arts while celebrating and honoring the voices of working poets in our community.
Betty Siegel Universal Access and the Arts Award
The Betty Siegel Universal Access & the Arts Award recognizes the substantial achievements of Arts Learning Community for Universal Access members.

Piedmont Laureate Program
Each year, writers creating work in a selected literary genre such as poetry, novels, plays, and more can apply to be the Piedmont Laureate. The Laureate's activities include readings, workshops, and other public appearances.
