Temporary Street Closings

The following street closings due to schedule road races, parades, construction or other events. These activities will affect certain traffic patterns across Raleigh over the next several months.

N. Harrington Street (200 block) - between Jones Street and Lane Street

On Monday, Jan.22, the 200 block of N. Harrington Street, between Jones Street and Lane Street, will reopen. The Metropolitan fire in March 2017 and the subsequent cleanup forced the closure of this section of N. Harrington Street. The 300 block of Jones Street, between N. Harrington Street and N. Dawson Street, remains closed.

N. Harrington Street (500 block) - between W. Johnson Street and N. West Street

On Tuesday, Jan. 23, the 500 block of N. Harrington Street, between W. Johnson and N. West Street, will be permanently closed. The street closure will allow for the groundbreaking on an 11-story mixed-use development. Drivers will be able to access N. Harrington Street from W. North Street and W. Johnson Street.

First National Bank construction - 500 block of Wilmington Street

Wilmington Street will be limited between Lenoir and Cabarrus streets during the construction of the First National Bank.

During the week from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., there will be two lanes open. After peak morning traffic, only one lane will be open.

The lane closures will be in place until the building is complete in March of 2020.

June

June 22 - June 24 Lenoir Street will be closed between Dawson Street and McDowell street from 10 a.m. on June 22 to 12 p.m. on June 24.

June 23 A parade will impact traffic from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. near Kingwood Drive. The parade will start on Kingwood Drive at the intersection of Alpine Drive, head east, turn right on Fairfax Drive and turn left on Kingwood Drive. 

June 23 A road race will impact traffic near the 3800 block of Ed Drive from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A map of the course is available online.

June 23 Dennis Avenue will be closed bvetween Midwood Drive and Bennett Street from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. 

July

July 1 Pershing Road will be closed between Gavin Street and the outer edge of Neuse River Brewing Company property from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.

July 4 E. Jones Street will be closed between N. East Street and Elm Street from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

July 4 Goode Street will be closed between Lake Wheeler Road and Biggs Drive from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m.

July 6 - East Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and South Wilmington Street from 6 p.m. until midnight.

July 14 South Saunders Street will be closed between Hammel Drive and Grissom Street from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

July 15 E. Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and South Wilmington Street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

August

August 3 - East Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and South Wilmington Street from 6 p.m. until midnight.

August 11 - Dawkins Drive will be closed from 4 p.m. until midnight.

August 19 E. Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and S. Wilmington Street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

August 20 Pullen Road will be closed between Hillsborough Street and Cates Avenue from 11:40 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.

September

September 7 - East Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and South Wilmington Street from 6 p.m. until midnight.

September 15 Jones Street and Edenton Street will be closed from N. Wilmington Street and N. Salisbury Street from 6 p.m. on Sept. 14 until 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 15.

September 21 South Saunders Street will be closed between Hammel Drive and Grissom Street from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.

September 22 South Saunders Street will be closed between Hammel Drive and Grissom Street from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.

September 23 South Saunders Street will be closed between Hammel Drive and Grissom Street from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.

October

October 5 - East Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and South Wilmington Street from 6 p.m. until midnight.

October 21 E. Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and S. Wilmington Street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

October 27 - Dawkins Drive will be closed from 4 p.m. until midnight.

November

November 2 - East Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and South Wilmington Street from 6 p.m. until midnight.

December

December 7 - East Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and South Wilmington Street from 6 p.m. until midnight.
