Temporary Street Closings

The following street closings due to schedule road races, parades, construction or other events. These activities will affect certain traffic patterns across Raleigh over the next several months.

First National Bank Construction - 500 block of Wilmington Street

Wilmington Street will be limited between Lenoir and Cabarrus streets during the construction of the First National Bank. 

During the week from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., there will be two lanes open. After peak morning traffic, only one lane will be open. 

The lane closures will be in place until the building is complete in March of 2020.

September

September 21 South Saunders Street will be closed between Hammel Drive and Grissom Street from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.

September 22 South Saunders Street will be closed between Hammel Drive and Grissom Street from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.

September 22 Jones Street will be closed between N. Wilmington Street and N. Salisbury Street from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.

September 22 West Davie Street will be closed between Commerce Place and S. Dawson Street from 7 a.m. until 2 a.m.

September 22 Tucker Street will be closed between Glewood Avenue and the entrance to 510 Glenwood from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

September 22 Glen Forest Drive will be closed between Tanglewood Drive and Deerwood Drive from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

September 22 Meadow Ridge Drive will be closed between Buffalo Road and Sue Ellen Drive from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

September 22 The following roads will be closed from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sept. 23:

  • W. Cabarrus Street between S. McDowell Street and S. Salisbury Street;
  • W. Lenoir Street between S. Dawson Street and S. McDowell Street;
  • Gale Street between Cbarrus Street and the southern entrance to the parking deck; and,
  • Fuller Street between Grissom Street and the end of the street.

September 22 Traffic will be affected by a road race near Dorothea Dix Park from 9 a.m. until noon.

September 22 Jones Street is closed between N. Wilmington Street and N. Salisbury Street from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.

September 23 Traffic will be impacted from 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. near PNC Arena and Trinity Road for a fundraiser. One lane of Trinity and Blue Ridge roads will remain open to vehicular traffic during the event.

September 23 The following streets will be closed from 4 a.m. until midnight:

  • Fayetteville Street from Morgan Street to Lenoir Street;
  • Hargett Street from S. Salisbury Street to S. Wilmington Street;
  • Martin Street from S. Salisbury Street to S. Wilmington Street; and,
  • Davie Street from S. Salisbury Street to S. Wimington Street.

September 23 South Saunders Street will be closed between Hammel Drive and Grissom Street from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.

September 23 Traffic will be impacted by a road race fromo 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. near North Hills. A map of the course is available online.

September 28 S. Harrington Street will be closed between W. Morgan Street and W. Hargett Street from 6 p.m. on Sept. 28 and 9 a.m. on Sept. 30.

September 29 Traffic will be impacted from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. near Dix Park by a road race. A map of the course is online.

September 30 Largo Springs Court will be closed from in the cul-de-sac from 3:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

October

October 5 East Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and South Wilmington Street from 6 p.m. until midnight.

October 6 Henry's Gasrsden Lane will be closed between Laurel Hills Road and the dead end from 7 p.m. until midnight.

October 6 Rowan Street will be closed between 6:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

October 6 Traffic near North Hills will be affected by a series of road races. Details of the route will be available online.

October 13 Dunn Road will be closed between Cokesbury Lane and River Bank Drive. Also, Falls River Avenue will be closed between Cokesbury Lane and Catara Drive from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

October 13 Chasteal Trail will be closed between Quitman Trail and Hornblower Trail from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

October 13 Jeffries Street will be closed between Stockton Drive and Norman Place from 12 p.m. til 6 p.m.

October 13 Blake Street will be closed between Wolfe Street and Martin Street from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m.

October 14 Eastbound Glenwood Avenue will be closed between the Angus Barn and Umstead Parkway from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.

October 20 Traffic will be impacted near Glenwood South from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. by a road race. A map of the course is available.

October 20 Scales Street will be closed between Harvey Street and W. Aycock Street from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.

October 21 E. Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and S. Wilmington Street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

October 27 Dawkins Drive will be closed from 4 p.m. until midnight.

October 27 Huntingdon Drive will be closed between 5119 Huntingdon Drive and 5041 Huntingdon Drive from 12 p.m. until midnight.

October 28 Holden Street will be closed between Elm Street and Watauga Street from 12 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

November

November 2 - East Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and South Wilmington Street from 6 p.m. until midnight.

December

December 7 - East Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and South Wilmington Street from 6 p.m. until midnight.
