Crime Mapping

The Raleigh Police Department has an online crime-mapping tool that makes it convenient for people to learn of crimes reported in areas that are of interest to them.

Raleigh's online crime data, which can be accessed through the City of Raleigh's Open Data portal, is automatically updated and it provides information on the vast majority of crime categories. In keeping with the department’s policy, information concerning rapes and most other sex offenses is not included on the maps. However, two types of sex crimes will appear – indecent exposures and peeping toms.

Information provided by the site is exported directly from the RPD’s incident data. The new site is capable of presenting information that is compiled under the National Incident Based Reporting System, which the RPD now uses.
