Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources 6 Special Events January Mordecai Free Friday Age: All Ages. Mordecai Historic Park will offer free tours throughout the day on this special Friday. Tours include the Mordecai House, Andrew Johnson birthplace, St. Mark's Chapel and Allen Kitchen. Tours begin on the hour and half hour and are limited to 20 persons per tour. The first tour will begin at 10 a.m., and the last tour starts at 3 p.m. Free tours are offered only twice a year, so don't miss out! First come, first served. No registration necessary. Celebrate Black History Month on this special trolley tour around Raleigh highlighting the downtown area's African American heritage. Tour route includes historic homes, schools, churches, and John Chavis Community Center Laurel Hills Community Center Mordecai Historic Park Roberts Community Center Pullen Amusements Apr 13 Sa 11:00am Letterland Age: All Ages. Pullen Park is transformed into the imaginary place Letterland, home to all the letters of the alphabet. The day includes opportunities to meet characters such as Firefighter Fred and see his fire engine, Clever Cat for a ride on the carousel, and Bouncy Ben and his boats. Pullen's train will turn into Talking Tess' train, and Impy Ink will be face painting at Golden Girl's gazebo. There will be other games and activities, photo opportunities, local school groups singing Letterland songs, and more. Free parking will be available in the Coliseum Deck on the campus of NCSU.
