The Raleigh Assistant City Manager for Economic Development guides the Department of City Planning, Development Services, Engineering Services, the Raleigh Convention Center and the Office of Economic Development.

Mr. Greene, 49, came to the City of Raleigh with more than two decades of municipal service. Previous to his arrival in the Capital City, he served the City of Concord for 15 years, serving more than three years as Assistant City Manager of Operations and as Deputy City Manager for the past 11 years. Before joining the City of Concord in 1999, Mr. Greene served the City of Rock Hill, S.C., for five years as a project manager and performance manager. He was the Chicago-­‐
based Government Finance Officers Association’s Educational Services Center manager before that. He started his career in 1989 with the City of Las Vegas, where he served as a Financial Analyst and Management Analyst.

Mr. Greene received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His undergraduate degree is in economics and political science. His master’s was earned in public administration. Mr. Greene also graduated from the UNC-­CH School of Government’s course in municipal administration and is a graduate of the University of Virginia’s Senior Executive Institute.

He has served as president of the Cabarrus Arts Council, as treasurer of the Cabarrus Housing Partnership for Children, and as neighborhood liaison with the Concord Neighborhood Program. From 2005-­‐2008, he served on the board of the Centralina Economic
Development Commission for the Centralina Council of Governments.
