Current Activity

Project Update, Updated July 12

On June 22, the City’s contractor, Rifenburg Construction, closed the northern section of Forestville Road at Mitchell Mill Road. This section of roadway will remain closed while crews excavate the area and install the second half of the new double box culvert that will run under the intersection. Crews are also installing the curb and gutter and sidewalk from Forestville Road running east.

The final pavement operations between Louisburg Road/US 401 and the Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church are underway. Final pavement will include the entrances to side streets along the corridor. There may be some lane closures and flagging operations during this phase of the work.

The landscape contractor installed more small shrubs and perennials along the corridor and will install more at the intersection of Forestville Road once the culvert is in place. The contractor will plant the remaining trees this fall.

Forestville Road Detour Information

There will be no through traffic on Forestville Road. Access to businesses and residents on Forestville Road will still be available by way of Mitchell Mill Road to Louisburg Road/401 to Forestville Road.
