Building Code Enforcement Inspector III - Closing February 9

Job Description

Conducts field inspections of installations, extensions or repairs to buildings or mechanical, electrical or plumbing systems for buildings of unlimited size. Ensures compliance with relevant code.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Visually examines all areas to determine compliance with ordinance standards for construction, heating, lighting, ventilating, and plumbing installations;
  • Checks City-approved plans to verify that plan review is correct, and accepts or rejects field modifications to the plans;
  • Sets up appointments, answers questions and interprets sections of the applicable code;
  • Conducts emergency inspections as required.

Senior Engineering Inspector - Closing February 16

Job Description

This is a fully experienced level of work inspecting the installation of water and sewer mains, storm drains, roadways, water and sewer taps, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and driveways for compliance with City code. The primary difference between this level of work and Engineering Inspector is the complexity of projects inspected and the authority to authorize payments to contractors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reviews construction plans; authorizes minor changes;
  • Interprets contract documents and plans;
  • Conducts inspections of materials and workmanship to ensure that installations conform to code;
  • Conducts field tests as required;
  • Schedules and tracks inspections and completes required forms and reports;
  • Works with contractors and developers to respond to citizen complaints about installations and construction;
  • Determines quantities of pay items and authorizes payment to contractors.
