City staff is currently completing space programming for this project, which includes identifying space (facility and equipment) needs for the fire station. Efforts are focused on the interior of the building and finding a location for fire headquarters and Fire Station 1.
The purpose of this project is to replace Fire Station 1, which is currently located at 220 S. Dawson Street, and the headquarters of Raleigh Fire Department, which is located at 310 W. Martin Street.
The new Fire Station 1 will be approximately 25,000 square feet and the office space for fire headquarters will be about 30,000 square feet. The new location also will include a parking deck for citizen and command/administrative use.
