Register for 16th Annual Fair Housing Community Conference
Conference is April 18th
The City of Raleigh's Fair Housing Hearing Board, and the Fair Housing Project of Legal Aid of North Carolina are proud to announce the 16th Annual Raleigh Fair Housing Community Conference to be held April 18th.
The conference theme is, “Freedom from Humiliation.” This annual event brings together housing advocates, community members, government officials, and experts on civil and human rights, housing, lending, insurance, education, transportation, health, environmental justice, and community development to examine achievements and opportunities under the Fair Housing Act.
The keynote speaker is Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, II, the President & Sr. Lecturer of Repairers of the Breach, Co-Chair of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call For Moral Revival; Bishop with the College of Affirming Bishops and Faith Leaders; Visiting Professor at Union Theological Seminary; Pastor of Greenleaf Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Goldsboro, North Carolina, and the author of three books: Revive Us Again: Vision and Action in Moral Organizing; The Third Reconstruction: Moral Mondays, Fusion Politics, and The Rise of a New Justice Movement; and Forward Together: A Moral Message For The Nation.
Registration is open and space is limited to 300 registrants. You must be 18 years or older and pre-register to attend. There is a non-refundable registration fee, which includes continental breakfast and lunch.

- "Displacement by Natural Disaster is a Fair Housing Issue," presented by panelists: Adrienne Kennedy - Community activist, Vice Chair of Robeson County Disaster Recovery Committee and founder of the Seeds of Hope Project Disaster Relief Center in Lumberton, NC and Madisin Sloan - Director, Disaster Recovery and Fair Housing Project, Texas Appleseed.
- "Economic Displacement is a Fair Housing Issue," presented by panelists; Jessica Holmes - Chair of the Wake County Board of Commissioners; Jesse McCoy - James Scott Farrin Lecturing Fellow and supervising attorney for the Duke Law Civil Justice Clinic and Susan Perry Cole - President, Chief Executive Officer, NC Association Community Development Corporations.
