Atlantic Avenue Street Resurfacing Project Begins

As part of the City of Raleigh’s annual street resurfacing project, road work has begun on Atlantic Avenue from New Hope Church Road to Millbrook Road. The resurfacing is expected to continue until May 4, weather permitting.

Most of the work on Atlantic Avenue will take place at night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Some of the work will be performed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Motorists can expect traffic delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

On March 6, the Raleigh City Council approved the $7,303,441 bid from Barnhill Contracting Company for the annual street resurfacing contract. City of Raleigh maintained streets that have curb and gutter are included in the annual resurfacing program. The City maintains 1,095 miles of streets. Typically, the streets that are in the worst condition are scheduled for the resurfacing program each year.
