City of Raleigh to Close Clark Ave. Ahead of Hurricane Florence

The City of Raleigh will be closing Clark Ave. on September 11 at 6 p.m. to prepare for potential impacts from Hurricane Florence. The road will be closed between the W. Peace St. and Clark Ave./Bellwood Dr. intersections. The City is taking necessary precautions to prevent any harm to pedestrians and drivers in the event that the stormwater culvert under Clark Ave. is affected by the storm.
The following detours will be in place until further notice:
Westbound traffic on W. Peace St. will be directed to Smallwood Dr. and Woodburn Rd.; and,
Eastbound traffic on Clark Ave. will be directed to Woodburn Rd. and Sutton Dr. to Nichols Dr. and St. Marys St.
Residents should not drive through flooded roadways or standing water. Barriers and detours are in place for public safety. Emergencies should be reported to 911.
The stormwater pipe on Clark Ave. is scheduled to be replaced. The project is currently in the design phase.
