District E Community Meeting Jan. 12 to Focus on Sister Cities

Council Member Stef Mendell will host a District E community meeting Saturday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Laurel Hills Community Center, 3808 Edwards Mill Road.

A representative from Raleigh Sister Cities will speak about their organization and their efforts to promote friendship and understanding between the people of Raleigh and its Sister Cities. Raleigh became associated with the Sister Cities program in 1986 and now has partnerships with five cities: Kingston Upon Hull, England; Compiegne, France; Rostock, Germany; Xiangyang, China; and Nairobi, Kenya. Current projects include cultural, sporting, and student exchanges, economic and community health projects, as well as other events in Raleigh and its Sister Cities.
Council Member Mendell will also provide an update on City Council business. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and raise concerns. While the discussion may be of particular interest to residents of District E, all residents of Raleigh are invited to attend.
