Serving The Triangle and The Triad, The Regional Crowdfunding Platform for Female Entrepreneurs is Accepting Applications

iFundWomen, the crowdfunding platform for women-led startups and small businesses, and the Office of Mayor Nancy McFarlane today announced a partnership to launch a new, crowdfunding platform that directly supports the women-led small businesses and startups in the greater Raleigh area, including The Triangle and The Triad. iFundWomen Raleigh is a dedicated online hub that supports women in the region, who are early stage entrepreneurs working to raise money for all types of businesses. Raleigh is one of the first cities in the nation to have a crowdfunding platform that helps city residents invest in and support local, women entrepreneurs in growing their businesses.

“Raleigh is a leading center for entrepreneurship and innovation. iFundWomen Raleigh is an exciting partnership that will continue to fuel the capital city’s entrepreneurial spirit and provide funding for emerging women-led businesses in our region,” said Mayor McFarlane. “As a business owner, I understand how difficult it is to raise money, fund operations and get a business off the ground. This platform addresses these challenges and is a much-needed resource that not only grants local entrepreneurs access to capital, but it also helps residents discover and invest in businesses in our own backyard.”

iFundWomen Raleigh will be accepting applications starting today until Friday, May 25. All women-led startups and small businesses in Raleigh and the greater metro area including the Triangle and the Triad are strongly encouraged to apply. iFundWomen’s team will vet all applicants and selected entrepreneurs will be featured in the inaugural cohort and will have access to one-on-one, expert coaching to help reach their business and fundraising goals. iFundWomen Raleigh will also offer video production services to help those on the platform tell their stories.

“iFundWomen is thrilled to partner with the city of Raleigh and Mayor Nancy McFarlane to bring one of the first regionally-focused crowdfunding initiatives for women in the nation to this thriving region,” said iFundWomen CEO, Karen Cahn. “As a former entrepreneur, Mayor McFarlane knows first-hand how challenging it is to raise money as a female founder, and to have her support in this initiative means everything.”

The site will be live in June with support from the following sponsors: The City of Raleigh’s Office of Economic Development, HQ Raleigh, and Pendo.io.

iFundWomen Raleigh is a one-stop destination for men and women who want to contribute to launching and growing female-led businesses in their neighborhood through financial contributions of any amount. Backers can discover and share businesses, choose among unique rewards, and track the financial progress of all campaigns featured. iFundWomen Raleigh becomes a digital extension of the region's vibrant entrepreneurial community and encourages Raleigh-area residents to keep coming back to the site to support and discover local businesses.
