City of Raleigh Office of Economic Development Celebrates National Small Business Week
In recognition of National Small Business Week, the City of Raleigh Office of Economic Development is co-sponsoring three events to inspire local small business owners. National Small Business Week runs from April 29 through May 5.
Connect Raleigh Lecture
The event will feature Jason Mayden, former design executive for Nike and current CEO and co-founder of Super Heroic, Inc. Mr. Mayden will share his experience working for a Fortune 500 company and what he has learned from starting his own business. Following the lecture will be a panel discussion with local business owners and a reception with light refreshments.

Meet the Lenders
The City of Raleigh is partnering with the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce to host an event designed to connect small business owners with local lenders. The event, “Meet the Lenders” will help local business owners find the necessary capital to grow their business. Participants will gain an understanding of what lenders are looking for when evaluating small business loan applications, understand what non-traditional funding sources may be available and participate in a question-and-answer session with lenders.

Sharpen Your Skills-Practice Your Pitch
The City of Raleigh is partnering with the Women’s Business Center of North Carolina to help entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to investors. This workshop, “Sharpen Your Skills: Practice Your Pitch,” will provide entrepreneurs with tips and techniques to promote their business. Judges and coaches will be available to help business owners present their pitch!
