The City of Raleigh, in partnership with Wake County Human Services and the North Carolina Department of Human Resources, will host Pathways to Public Service, a free event designed to expose students to job and career opportunities with municipal, county, and state government.

The drop-in hiring and career exploration event is Friday, Sept. 20 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Raleigh Pathways Center, 900 South Wilmington Street. High school seniors and college students are encouraged to attend.

“Nationwide, many organizations are experiencing a large number of job openings in a wide range of fields as the previous generation of workers retire at an increasing rate,” said Faye Caviness, City of Raleigh human resources business partner. “Pathways to Public Service is part of the City’s efforts to encourage students to seek careers in well-paying government jobs and attract qualified workers of all knowledge and skill levels,” Ms. Caviness added.

Pathways to Public Service will showcase many career opportunities and allow students to meet with staff from various departments with open entry-level, mid-management, and upper-management positions. Students can also visit booth exhibits that provide hands-on job-related skill activities, and search and apply for open positions and internships.
