On April 30, the "Connect Raleigh" lecture series continues with a talk from Jason Mayden, chief executive officer and co-founder of Super Heroic, Inc., and former design executive for Nike.

"Connect Raleigh" features nationally-known speakers and coincides with National Small Business Week. The event is hosted and co-sponsored by the City of Raleigh and the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. Immediately following the lecture, the public is invited to stay for the panel discussion sponsored by the Wake Tech Small Business Center.

The lecture will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Raleigh Convention Center, 500 S. Salisbury Street. Doors will open at 5 p.m.

“Small businesses are an important part of our local economy,” said Mayor Nancy McFarlane. “As a former small business owner, I understand the challenges that are unique to starting and growing a business. That is one of the reasons I am so pleased that the City is offering this lecture that is meant to inspire entrepreneurs and help them to thrive in Raleigh.”

Mr. Mayden’s remarks will focus on his background working for a Fortune 500 company and the decisions that led to the start of his own business. He will share the challenges and successes that he has faced since launching Super Heroic, Inc., and what he has learned from those experiences.

The panel discussion will feature representatives from local businesses. Panelists will provide attendees with first-hand experiences and ideas on how to start a small business.

Attendees of “Connect Raleigh” will also have the opportunity to speak with local organizations that provide resources for small businesses and start-up companies.

“Connect Raleigh” will include additional lecture events in 2018.
