Forest Ridge Park Mountain Bike Trail Update
Open
The Mountain Bike Trail at Forest Ridge Park is currently open. Please contact the park office for more information at 919-996-5800.
Mountain Bike Trail status is affected by weather and trail conditions. Please only ride dry trails and respect wildlife and other users.
For emergencies while on the trail, call 9-1-1.

Laurel Hills Community Center Closed
Effective September 6, 2022
Effective September 6, 2022, Laurel Hills Community Center building will be closed for renovations until early spring 2024.
Patrons are welcome to continue using the outdoor amenities including, the Sassafras All Children’s Playground, picnic shelter, walking trails, outdoor basketball courts and fields during this closure.
Bathroom access will remain available at the outdoor comfort station located along the walking trail, behind the playground area.

Shelley Lake Playground Closure
Shelley Lake Playground will be closed for upgrades from Tuesday, Feb. 27 to Friday, March 29.

Historic Allan Herschell Carousel Closed
John Chavis Memorial Park
The historic carousel at John Chavis Memorial Park is temporarily closed for essential repairs.
With its origins tracing back to 1923, the Chavis Carousel operates as a working artifact and unforeseen mechanical breakdowns can occur. Repairing this piece of cherished history requires the expertise of artisans who specialize in this delicate work, often with schedules booked months in advance.
Ensuring the carousel's integrity is a top priority for Raleigh Parks. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and patience and hope to reopen by summer 2024.

Sgt. Courtney T. Johnson Neighborhood Center Closure
Sgt. Courtney T. Johnson Neighborhood Center will be closed for renovations from Sunday, March 24 through Tuesday, April 9.

Peach Road Cultural Center Closure
The Peach Road Cultural Center will be temporarily closed starting at the end of January 2024 for indoor facility renovations. We anticipate reopening in early summer 2024.

Anderson Point River Access Closed
The Anderson Point access is closed due to construction activities in the area. All other access points are now open on the Neuse River.
Services Affected
Construction is currently underway. During construction, the open lawn area to the east of the parking lot, shelter #1, and the restroom building will be closed. Temporary outdoor toilet facilities will be provided. Parking will also be impacted, with an estimated 20 spaces unavailable for use.
Nearby shelters of similar size are located at Peter Williams Park, Lake Lynn Park, Brier Creek Park, and Honeycutt Park.
