Digital Inclusion Programs - Adult Technology Classes
The Digital Inclusion Team offers a variety of classes to enhance your technology skills. We offer basic computer training for adults, as well as more specific technology classes to meet the demands of today’s global economy.
Adult Technology Education
Adult Technology Education offers educational courses for Raleigh’s adult population. Whether citizens are looking to learn more about their cell phone, tablet, computer, or yearning to become more in-tune with specialized software applications to meet the demands of today’s global economy; we can help.
You can register for any Adult Technology program online using RecLink or fill out the registration form in person at any staffed facility. It is recommended that you register at least two weeks in advance.
Adult Digital Literacy
This program offers computer training for adults interested in learning the basic functions of using a computer, but do not know where to start. This is a very slow-paced 6-week course that meets twice a week for six weeks. If you are interested in joining our next class, please call Tommy Hodges at 919-996-2458. This class will cover…
- Keyboarding and mouse-clicking;
- Understanding functions of your operating system;
- Microsoft Office applications;
- Email basics;
- Internet browsing and online resources; and,
- Social media.
Do you have a passion for teaching technology? Then look no further than our Digital Inclusion Volunteer Program where we teach adults how to use all types of technology! Volunteers are needed to assist the lead teacher and to help answer student questions during the class.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the following tasks:
- Event set-up/break-down;
- Keeping attendance;
- Helping students understand what they are learning in the classroom;
- Moving classroom materials from one location to another; and,
- Taking photos at the event.
If needed (and if the volunteer desires), it may include training to become a lead volunteer teacher and curriculum creator.
Volunteers will need to fill out a volunteer application and pass a background check prior to starting in a classroom.
