Youth Programs offers school-based programs and summer camp opportunities to children on traditional- and year-round calendars in grades K-8.

When do I begin registering for the programs?

Online
registration will begin April 8, 2019. All online registrations open at 6:00am.

Registration will begin April 8, 2019 and will be staggered by location. All online registrations open at 6:30 a.m. Registration will occur online via the RecLink registration system.

If a program is not available on Reclink, registration must occur in person at the Registration Business Office, 2401 Wade Avenue. Call 919-996-4800 for additional information. Walk-in registration begins on April 22, 2019.

How do I register for programs online?

Online registration will be available online via RecLink. Your family login and pin will be needed to access your online account.

***If you are existing, you already have a LOGIN ID/PIN***

To register online, you must set up a family account in advance:

  1. Go to RecLink
  2. Click “Login” in the upper right corner. (Note: If you don’t know your login information and are an existing client, click “Forgot Login Id and/or PIN”).
  3. Click “Create a New Account” if you are a new customer. Your login and pin will be emailed to you.
  4. Browse and select your school-based programs.
  5. Complete all registration information.
  6. Submit the payment information for your initial deposit (AMEX, MasterCard, or VISA). Note that this payment information will not remain on file.
  7. Review your receipt for accuracy

All walk-in registration will be processed at the Recreation Business Office located at 2401 Wade Ave, Raleigh, NC 27607. Note: Families may choose a payment plan option but the initial deposit is due at the time of registration.

Before School X-Press

The Before School Program is a great way for any child to start their day. The morning is structured to allow for various arrival times enabling staff to welcome each child as they arrive. Some of the activities the kids participate in during the early hours are board games, crafts, playground time, gym games and more.

  • City resident: $800 per child
  • Non-city resident: $980 per child

After School X-Press

The After School X-Press Program strives to provide a high-quality program. Our goal is to include a variety of curriculum-based programs such as arts and crafts, computer education, sports and fitness, nature, music, and food experience. Participants also will have time to work on homework.

  • City resident: $1510 per child
  • Non-city resident: $1690 per child

Weather Policy

The program does not cover early dismissal due to inclement weather or other unexpected early releases or Saturday school makeups.

The After School Program is not offered when Wake County Schools are closed due to inclement weather.

Track Out X-Press

Track Out X-Press strives to provide high-quality activities and new learning opportunities at a reasonable cost for children who are tracked out of year-round or modified schools. Members of the program staff complete training in areas such as first-aid, behavior management and age‑appropriate activity planning. This enables them to provide a safe environment in which children can play and learn.

The program provides a stimulating atmosphere through organized activities such as recreational games and sports, field trips and arts and crafts, as well as many learning opportunities through food experiences, science and nature activities and computer technology. Participants will receive a program T-shirt that should be worn on all field trips other than swimming pools.

  • The track-out program opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 6:30 p.m.

  • City resident - $1620 | Non-City resident - $1800

  • City resident - $160/wk | Non-city resident - $175/wk

A $25 non-refundable registration fee per child is due at time of registration. Registrations under $400 must be paid in full at time of registration.

Summer Camps - Summer X-Press

The Summer X-Press Program provides a high quality summer camp experience at a reasonable cost.

This program incorporates a stimulating and exciting atmosphere through organized activities including: arts and crafts, recreational sports and games, field trips, specialty programs and much more.

The program is staffed with caring and experienced counselors that attend more than 20 hours of staff training focused on working with school aged participants.

Participants should be prepared to have tons of FUN with plenty of laughs, smiles, and excitement.

Program Details

  • Participants should bring a lunch and two snacks daily.
  • Participants will be involved in indoor and outdoor activities throughout the camp day.
  • Campers will receive a program t-shirt that should be worn on all non-pool field trips.

  • Program hours are from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Early drop off is available at 7:30 a.m. and all campers must be picked up by 6 p.m.

Summer Specialty Camps

Summer Explorers Camp Age: 6 - 12 years

Explore an endless variety of activities at Summer Explorers’ Camp! Participants will enjoy recreational activities, including unique arts and crafts, food experiences, sports, games and more! Don’t miss the special events and exciting field trips, including swimming twice per week and other fun outings.

Program Details

  • This program is staffed with caring and experienced counselors who attend more than 20 hours of staff training focused on working with school-aged participants.
  • Activities will take place indoors and outdoors.
  • Participants should bring a lunch and two snacks daily.
  • Please inquire with camp location to obtain most up-to-date field trip information. Field trips may be changed due to weather.
  • Campers will be given program t-shirts that should be worn on all non-pool field trips.

Program Hours

  • Program hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m..
  • Early drop-off is available at 7:30 a.m., and all campers must be picked up by 6 p.m.

  • Locations - Ravenscroft School, Hilburn Academy, Pleasant Grove, Abbotts Creek Elementary, and Underwood Elementary

DIGI-Camps

Campers will gains hands-on experience with innovative digital media that they can use in everyday life. Partnering with Tech Academy, DIGI Camps are offered for participants between the ages of 7 and 13. Topics include: 3D printing, game coding, robotics, movie making, and more. See the camp brochure for specific topics, dates, and times. Digital lessons are for 3 hours of camp day.
