Want to enrich your life by connecting with the natural environment? The Adventure Program offers classes, clinics, trips and camps throughout the city, the Triangle area and state. Check out our upcoming Adventure programs listed below. You can register for any adventure program online using RecLink, in person at any staffed facility, or by calling the Adventure office at 919-996-6855. Courses can be found easily in RecLink by searching the unique course "registration barcode" listed below.

Neuse River Kids Club
Join us on the river this fall. Neuse River Kids Club is a multi-session kayaking program for youth. On Wednesday nights in September, kids can learn whitewater kayaking skills. Previous kayaking experience is encouraged. Sign up today to build paddling skills, teamwork and individual responsibility.
Ages: 8-12 years

Neuse River Canoe Trip
Join us for a guided canoe trip down the Neuse River. Our guides will meet you at the take-out point on Poole Road and shuttle you up to the put-in for our river trip. Preregistration is required. Participants under 18 years old are welcome when registered with an adult.

Adventure Day – On the River
Have your child spend this teacher workday on the river with the Adventure Program. We will be canoeing all day on the river teaching paddling skills and exploring the Neuse River. Preregistration is required.
Ages: 10-14 years

Wonders of Water
Come spend the day at Lake Johnson Park and explore the wonders of water. We will spend the day exploring the lake and learning the importance of water in our lives. As well as getting hands-on with the lake and the creatures that inhabit it. This program is hands-on and will take place mostly outdoors. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes for walking. A second set of clothes and shoes that can get wet is recommended.

Adventure Day – Bike or Treat
Spend Halloween riding bikes on the greenway as we ride from park to park stopping for 'treats' along the way. Costumes encouraged.

Zombie Survival Course
Are you ready for Halloween? What about zombies? When the zombies come we want you to be ready. We will teach you how to survive. We will teach you everything you need to know, such as zombie avoidance tactics, finding and fortifying shelter, strength in numbers, caring for the wounded and much more. Join us in October on a teacher workday for a fun look at what it means to be prepared for the worst-case scenario - ZOMBIES! This program is hands-on and will take place mostly outdoors. Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Kayak Pool Sessions and Private Roll Instruction
Pool sessions are open paddling times for all levels of boaters, whether you're working on your roll, practicing new skills or just wanting to try out the sport. Grab a friend and come paddle with us all winter long, or go on RecLink and sign up for a private kayak roll instruction session.
Ages: 12 years and up; 14 years and under with an adult
Course Fee: $40
Nov. 2, Nov. 9, Nov. 16, Nov. 30, Dec. 7, Dec. 14, Dec. 21, and Dec. 28 - Optimist Pool - 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
