Diane Sauer Receives North Carolina Recreation and Park Association’s Meritorious Service Award
On Wednesday, December 13, Diane Sauer, Raleigh Parks Recreation and Cultural Resources Department’s Director, received the North Carolina Recreation and Park Association’s Meritorious Service Award. The Meritorious Service Award honors a professional for their long-term tenure of faithful and accomplished service to the field of recreation and parks in a local setting. Award recipients must have a minimum of 15 years as an Association member, and full-time employment in the field of recreation and parks for at least an equal number of years.
Diane’s hard work and dedication to quality programs and exceptional service has taken her through many positions within the department. When not serving in an official work capacity, she has served as a volunteer youth basketball coach and coach for Special Olympics Basketball and Softball. She spends countless hours viewing the department from the eyes of a customer by registering for and engaging in programs such as yoga, aerobics, tennis and Zumba as all as many other programs her family members participate in. She has served the department as Specialized Recreation Services Supervisor, Community Center Program Director, Marketing Administrator, Recreation Superintendent and now Director. Under her leadership, the department has continued to evolve to meet the ever-changing needs and continues to play a leading role in the quality of life and character of our growing city.
Congratulations to Diane Sauer for her over 32 years of service to the parks and recreation profession and the Meritorious Service Award.
