Durant Nature Preserve Lake Drained During Dam Repair

News posted Nov. 07, 2018 - 6:00 am

Repairs have begun on Durant's lower lake dam. The lower lake has been drained so repairs can be made. The project is expected to be completed mid-February 2019.

As a result, the service road across the dam is closed to the public and visitors will not be able to complete the lower lake trail loop that connects the north and south sides of the Preserve. The north and south sides of the Preserve can be accessed via portions of the lower lake side trail, white house road trail and/or the border trail. Both parking lots will be open during construction.

For more information, see the Durant Nature Park Lower Dam Repairs project page.

Construction for this project will begin on Monday, October 15 (weather permitting). The construction contractor, DHGI, will start with preparing the worksite for construction. Then, work on the dam will begin.
