Get Fit with Raleigh Parks
The City of Raleigh has a wide variety of fitness activities offered to community members. With over 200 parks, staying healthy doesn’t have to be a hassle during the winter months.
Our Capital Area Greenway system has over 100 miles of trails you are invited to explore. There are 28 individual trails that make up the trail system, each with its own unique features, destinations, and character. These trails can be used for walking, running or biking. At several community center locations, there is a fitness center memberships available with no contracts! The centers offer free weights, machines and stretching areas. To find a community center with a fitness center near you, please visit the park locator and under the button choose an activity, select “gym” to find the locations available.
The Parks department offers a wide range of programming opportunities to get fit for the New Year. Community centers hold fitness classes such as Zumba, yoga, martial arts, and sports classes. There are four indoor pools available for play, swimming laps and classes. The four pools open are located at Buffaloe Road, Millbrook, Optimist and Pullen Aquatics. The hours on the pools vary, but can be found on the website.
