Explore the beauty and nature of Horseshoe Farm. Stroll the Meadow Loop Trail, watch for birds and wildlife, or join a nature program to learn and play. For more information, call the park office at (919) 870-2871.
Early Birds
Friday, August 3. 8-9:30 a.m.
Grab your binoculars and meet us at Horseshoe Farm for a bird-watching hike led by a guest naturalist. The walk will be 1-2 miles in length. For beginning and advanced birders alike. Preregistration is required.
Age: 16 years and up. Free for all participants. Barcode #221897

For Goodness Snakes
Saturday, August 11. 4-5 p.m.
Come discover the truth about these often misunderstood animals. Learn where snakes live, what they eat and what to do if you see one in the wild. You will even get a chance to see and touch some captive snakes. Preregistration is required. Children must be accompanied by adults. Children and adults must register and pay the program fee.
Age: 5 years and up. Course fee $2 per participant. Barcode #221583

Grasshopper Hop
Saturday, August 18. 4-5 p.m.
Explore the world of a grasshopper as we read a story and then catch grasshoppers to study. We'll investigate how grasshoppers move and then practice our own grasshopper 'hop' dance. Each participant will make a themed craft to take home. Preregistration is required. Children must be accompanied by adults. Adults attend free. This program takes place on trails that may not be accessible by strollers.

Coyote Watch
Friday, August 24. 7-8 p.m.
Coyotes have been spotted at the Preserve! Join us for an evening stroll to learn why coyotes are important and why they are such cool animals. Preregistration is required. Children must be accompanied by adults. Children and adults must register and pay the program fee.

Nature Art: Mask Making
Thursday, August 30. 6:45-7:30 p.m.
Learn how birds use fancy plumage or dances to impress potential mates. Then use provided natural materials to make a fancy mask that would make a turkey proud. Preregistration is required. Children must be accompanied by adults. Children and adults must register and pay the program fee.
