Upcoming Classes at Laurel Hills Community Center

Come and join us at Laurel Hills Community Center for some exciting classes this Summer. We are excited to offer new family programs in the park and a new sports league for teens. Please see below for class names, dates, times, and class descriptions or call Laurel Hills Community Center at 919-420-2383.

Laurel Hills Community Center hours:

Monday through Friday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Saturday: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sunday: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Family Programs

Family Fun and Picnic in the Park – New Family Program

Bring your family together for a monthly night of family fun in the summer! This free event will take place every second Friday at Laurel Hills and the Sassafras All Children's Playground. Come together for a night of outdoor recreation while we play in the park, read a great story, and show off our dance moves to some of our favorite preschool songs. Join us for arts and crafts and bring a picnic to eat with your family! Your family will enjoy some bonding time as we play together and enjoy the summer time weather! Registration preferred.

Course Fee: Free family event

Teen Sports League – New Teen Sports League

Teen Pop-Up Leagues

Summer is for fun! If you are a high school student grab some friends and head to Laurel Hills for our Pop-Up League for Teens. Once a week, each team will compete in a different sport of flag football, ultimate frisbee, and dodgeball. Week four will consist of a single elimination tournament of our choice.

Each roster should consist of ten or more players with at least five males and five females. One manager will be responsible for registering the team while parents will be responsible for registering the individual players. Payment will be due by the team manager at registration and must be completed in person at Laurel Hills Community Center.

Registration dates: June 4 through June 17

Course fee: $50 per team

Sports Classes

Basketball - Two Sport Zone (Age two years)

This parent-tot class is a great way to play while learning about the basics of basketball on a toddler's level. Little shooters will enjoy the tiny hoop games, touch-n-go dribbling, catch, pass and more motor skill development fun. Wonderful for social skills and fitness!

Course Fee: $36 residents and $51 non-residents

T-Ball– Two Sports Zone (Age two years)

This parent-tot class is a great way to play while learning about the basics of baseball on a toddler's level. Little all-stars will enjoy the tiny T-ball games, hitting, catching, throwing, and more motor skill development fun. Wonderful for social skills and fitness!

Baseball—Little Sluggers (Ages 3 to 5)

This class, an introduction to skills development, teaches the basics of baseball, including fielding, hitting, throwing and catching. The class will help develop your child's hand-eye coordination, listening skills, good sportsmanship and teamwork! Let's play ball!

Course Fee: $36 residents and $51 non-residents

#222219 June 2 through June 23, Saturdays 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Baseball-Sluggers (Ages 6-9)

Crack! It's going, going ... gone! This class helps develop the skills of baseball, including running, hitting, throwing, pitching, and fielding. The class also will help develop hand-eye coordination, listening skills, good sportsmanship, and teamwork!

Course Fee: $40 residents and $55 non-residents
