Walnut Creek Master Plan Meeting

Event posted Aug. 02, 2017 - 4:20 pm

Join us for the first public workshop for the Walnut Creek Wetland Park Master Plan. The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department and park planning consultant, Alta Planning + Design are collaborating with the community to develop a master plan for Walnut Creek Wetland Park.

The park project area consists of a 41.75 acre parcel of land, which contains the Walnut Creek Wetland Center, in addition to roughly 6.68 acres directly south of the main parcel. The land was acquired between 2000 and 2001 for the purpose of wetland conservation and public greenway.

In June, the Raleigh City Council approved a citizen planning committee to develop and recommend a community-supported plan. In addition to the citizen planning committee meetings, the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department will host a series of public workshops to solicit input on the park master plan at significant times throughout the process.

• Public Meeting #1 – Public workshop to review alternative master plan concepts and program elements
• Public Meeting #2 – Public workshop to review the draft master plan and discuss priorities
• Public Meeting #3 – Presentation of the draft park master plan to the Parks, Recreation, and Greenway Advisory Board
