Likin’ Lichens
Saturday, Jan. 12, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Zoom in on lichens to learn about these ancient symbiotic organisms. Discover how they grow and disperse, how animals use them for nests and food, and how humans use them for medicine and science. Get up close with a microscope, and even learn to make lichen dye. Children must be accompanied by adults. Children and adults must register and pay the program fee.

Snowflake Explorers
Tuesday, Jan. 15, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
No two snowflakes are exactly alike – but who discovered that? Settle in for storytime as we read about Snowflake Bentley, the first person ever to study snowflakes up close. Learn about snow crystals and flakes shaped like trees, and make snowflakes of your own to take home. Preregistration is required. Children must be accompanied by adults. Adults attend free.

Explore the Preserve and enjoy time outside together on this Scavenger Hunt. You and your family will enjoy quality time as you search for clues and hidden surprises and learn a little more about the nature of our backyard. Can you find all the clues to solve the puzzle at the end? Children must be accompanied by adults. Children and adults must register and pay the program fee.

Wild Reads Nature Book Club – H is for Hawk
Wednesday, Jan. 23, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Gather with other readers and nature lovers for a community book club! Explore the natural world from the comfort of your coziest chair, then come together to discuss and meet like-minded friends. Quarterly selections will include nature, science, memoir, environmental conservation, and more. Tea and snacks provided. Preregistration is required.
For January, we will be reading H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald. This NY Times bestselling memoir explores the art and practice of falconry along with other outdoor experiences that shaped with the life of the author.

Campfire Story & Marshmallow Roast
