Temporary Street Closings

The following street closings due to schedule road races, parades, construction or other events. These activities will affect certain traffic patterns across Raleigh over the next several months.

First National Bank Construction - 500 block of Wilmington Street

Wilmington Street will be limited between Lenoir and Cabarrus streets during the construction of the First National Bank. 

During the week from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., there will be two lanes open. After peak morning traffic, only one lane will be open. 

The lane closures will be in place until the building is complete in March of 2020.

October

October 13 Dunn Road will be closed between Cokesbury Lane and River Bank Drive. Also, Falls River Avenue will be closed between Cokesbury Lane and Catara Drive from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

October 13 Chasteal Trail will be closed between Quitman Trail and Hornblower Trail from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.

October 13 Jeffries Street will be closed between Stockton Drive and Norman Place from 12 p.m. til 6 p.m.

October 13 Traffic will be impacted downtown for a road race from 5 a.m. until 11 a.m. for a road race. Details of the race and a map are available online.

October 14 Eastbound Glenwood Avenue will be closed between the Angus Barn and Umstead Parkway from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m.

October 18 Parham Street will be closed between E. Martin Street and Wolfe Street and Wolfe Street will be closed between Blount Street and Blake Street from 3 p.m. until 11:59 p.m.

October 20 Traffic will be impacted between 7:45 a.m. and 10 a.m. near Brier Creek for a road race. Runners will start at the shopping center and proceed north, make a right at Arco Corporate Drive, make a u-turn at Lumley Drive and return.

October 20 Paddy Hollow Lane will be closed between Turtle Ridge Way and the dead end from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

October 20 Traffic will be impacted near Glenwood South from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. by a road race. A map of the course is available.

October 20 Scales Street will be closed between Harvey Street and W. Aycock Street from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m.

October 20 Traffic will be impacted between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. for a road race. More information is available online.

October 21 E. Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and S. Wilmington Street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

October 26 Traffic will be affected downtown for a parade from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. THe parade will start at Clay Street, turn right on St. Mary's Street, left on Nichols Drive, right on Sutton Drive, left on Daiels Street, left on Smallwood Drive, left on Cameron Street, and finish on Broughton High School property.

October 27 Dawkins Drive will be closed from 4 p.m. until midnight.

October 27 Huntingdon Drive will be closed between 5119 Huntingdon Drive and 5041 Huntingdon Drive from 12 p.m. until midnight.

October 27 Wolfe Street will be closed between Blake Street and Parham Street from 1 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

October 27 Traffic will be impacted between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a road race. Information and a map of the course are available online.

October 27 Huntingdon Drive will be closed between 5119 and 5041 from 12 p.m. until midnight.

October 27 A benefit walk will impact traffic near Walnut Creek from 10:15 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The walkers will start at Walnut Creek and head north on Sunnybrook Road, enter the Walnut Creek Trail and finish on private property.

October 28 The following streets will be closed from 10 a.m. unti 6 p.m.:

  • Martin Street between Blount Street and Person Street;
  • Parham Street from Martin Street to Wolfe Street; and,
  • Blake Street from Martin Street to Wolfe Street.

October 28 Holden Street will be closed between Elm Street and Watauga Street from 12 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

October 31 Gainsborough Drive will be closed between Winthrop Drive and Battleford Drive from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Also, a parade will begin on Blairmore Court at 6 p.m., turn right on Gainsborough Drive, and finish on Margate Court.

November

November 2 East Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and South Wilmington Street from 6 p.m. until midnight.

November 3 James Place will be closed between Woodburn Road and Bryan Street from 1 p.m. until 11 p.m.

November 10 A parade will impact traffic from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The parade will start on S. Salisbury Street heading south, turn left on Lenoir Street, left on Fayetteville Street, left on Morgan Street, right on Salisbury Street, right on Edenton Street, left on Wilmington Street, and right on the state parking lot for disassembly. 

December

December 1 Dunn Road will be closed between Cokesbury Lane and River Bank Drive and Falls River Avenue from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

December 7 - East Hargett Street will be closed between Fayetteville Street and South Wilmington Street from 6 p.m. until midnight.
