Neuse River Kids Club
Have you ever wished someone would set up a youth kayaking program? We did too, then we created one. Neuse River Kids Club is a multi-session kayaking program for youth. Sessions will start on flat water and move to more advanced moving water as the group builds skill. Previous kayaking experience is encouraged. Sign up today to build your child's paddling skills team work and individual responsibility.
Location: The first class is scheduled for Sept. 5 and will be held at Lake Wheeler Park. During weeks two through four, we will meet at the Neuse River at 20 Anderson Point Drive.
Please come prepared with a water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, close-toed water shoes, clothes that can get wet, towel, and a change of dry clothes. Bring your own gear (boat, skirt, helmet, PFD) if you have it. Don't have a boat? No worries, we have plenty.

Neuser River Canoe Trip
Join us for a guided canoe trip down the Neuse River. Our guides will meet you at our take-out spot (6501 Poole Road) and shuttle you three miles up river to the put-in for our trip. Paddling experience is not required, but participants should have basic swimming ability and comfort in water. Preregistration is required. Participants under 18 are welcome when registered with an adult. Please come prepared with a water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, close-toed water shoes, clothes that can get wet, a towel and a change of dry clothes.

Adventure Day - On the River
Have your child spend this teacher workday on the river with the Adventure Program. We will be canoeing all day on the river teaching paddling skills and exploring the Neuse River. Pre-Registration is required. Please pack a lunch, two snacks and a reusable water bottle.

Kayak Pool Sessions
Pool sessions are open paddling times for all levels of boaters, whether you're working on your roll, practicing new skills, or just wanting to try out the sport. Grab a friend and come paddle with us all winter long, or go on RecLink and sign up for some one on one roll instruction.

Private Roll Instruction
Roll instruction is designed to provide one step in the learning process. Students must have some kayaking experience, basic swimming ability and comfort under water.
Participants under 14 must be accompanied by an adult (over 16). Preregistration is required. Bring clothes that can get wet, towel and a change of dry clothes. Bringing your own paddling equipment (boat, skirt, helmet, PFD) is optional, but recommended.

In 1984, the Adventure Program was born out of the city's Nature Program. Over the years the goal has always been to provide instructional opportunities in a wide range of outdoor adventure activities as well as:
- Provide enjoyable adventure experiences that embrace experiential learning;
- Create an atmosphere where group experiences foster a sense of team;
- Provide instructional foundations in a wide range of adventure activities;
- Focus on safety issues and manage risks in the most proactive manner; and,
- Provide an opportunity for environmental appreciation and stewardship.
