Traffic Alert Update: 500 and 600 Blocks of East Lenoir Street Closed for Sewer Line Replacement

Update, March 1, 2018:
Traffic Alert: 500 and 600 Blocks of East Lenoir Street Remain Closed for Sewer Line Replacement

The 500 and 600 blocks of East Lenoir Street, between Chavis Way and Alston Street remain closed by the City of Raleigh to replace existing sewer lines. Work began on February 6, and is now expected to be completed by March 16. This sewer line replacement is one of the City’s Capital Improvement Projects.

East Lenoir Street within this construction area will be accessible to local residents only and on street parking will be prohibited. Other motorists should avoid this area and follow the posted detour signage.

The following is a detour around the work site:

  • Motorists traveling eastbound on East Lenoir Street turn left onto Chavis Way, right onto East Davie Street, right onto Alston Street, left onto East Lenoir Street.

  • Motorists traveling westbound on East Lenoir Street turn right onto Alston Street, left onto East Davie Street, left onto Chavis Way, right onto East Lenoir Street.

Customers in this area should not experience any interruption of water and sewer services. If service interruptions are necessary, residents will be notified in advance.

On February 5, the City of Raleigh closed the 500 to 600 blocks of East Lenoir Street, between Chavis Way and Alston Street, to replace existing sewer lines. Due to delays in the project, work is now expected to be completed by March 2. This sewer line replacement is one of the City’s Capital Improvement Projects.

East Lenoir Street within this construction area will be accessible to local residents only and on street parking will be prohibited. Other motorists should avoid this area and follow the posted detour signage.
