Sign up for Raleigh Rainwater Rewards Today!
Raleigh Rainwater Rewards, formerly known as the Stormwater Quality Cost Share Program, is an affordable way for you to make your home more environmentally friendly by capturing and reusing the stormwater runoff from your property when it rains.
Residents may receive up to 90 percent reimbursement on a stormwater quality project, like a cistern, rain garden, permeable pavement, green roof, and wetland/water garden. Raleigh Stormwater also is exploring the option of including rain barrels (available at a wholesale price) in the program. These projects mimic nature by absorbing stormwater and removing pollution from impervious surfaces, like your roof and driveway, before the water goes to storm drains and local waterways.
In March, Raleigh City Council approved several new program policies that make the application and reimbursement process more seamless. Under the new policy:
- The approval process for smaller projects is simpler and quicker. Projects less than $5,000 are approved directly by Raleigh Stormwater staff, the maintenance requirement is reduced from 10 to five years, and you do not need a legal agreement or quotes/bids for construction; and,
- Projects that cost between $5,000 and $30,000 do not need to be presented to Raleigh City Council for approval. Accepted projects will now be approved by Raleigh Stormwater staff and the Stormwater Management Advisory Commission.
