Amec Foster Wheeler completed the design plans for this project in November. The construction bid for this project is currently underway and construction is expected to take place in the spring.

The Laurel Hills Road Dam rehabilitation project is necessary since the dam has a history of water overtopping during larger storm events. The dam embankment has already been repaired several times because of erosion during roadway overtopping.

The City and AMEC have been working to incorporate the new Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) requirements related to this project and have met with affected residents to discuss the revised project plans.

Preservation of Laurel Hills Lake provides flood control and water quality benefits to the surrounding area and neighborhood. The project will also reduce the potential for downstream erosion and sediment buildup within Crabtree Creek tributary to the Neuse River.
